Cleveland, OH- And once there were 8 teams, only 4 remain heading to Friday nights Mid-American Tournament semifinals and the 2 night games were games to remember if you are an Eastern Michigan (EMU) fan and also if you are a Toledo fan. Those were the 2 teams that advanced on Thursday.
The First Game started at 6:30 Local Time between the RedHawks of Miami University (OH) and the Rockets from the University of Toledo and it flew right by, with only 2 dead balls for Fouls and 4 Timeouts called. In a first half that only took 25 minutes, the score was 30-29 Rockets and what was a mostly back and forth game stat wise. The story of the first half was struggling MAC Player of The Year Tre'Shaun Fletcher was 2-10 from the field on 5 points. He sure put a decent second half together and it helped the Rockets win this game. Really the story of this game was Luke Knapke coming of the bench and scoring 16 points on 7-13 field goals. "I have been coming off the bench all season". Knapke said "And that has worked for us all season and I play most of my minutes at the 5 position". Coming off the bench last night sure helped the Rockets toward a win after nearly blowing a lead.
A scary moment happened to Toledo late in the game to 2018 MAC Player of the year, Tre'Shaun Fletcher feeling some pain in his left knee. "I fully expect him to be ready to go tomorrow''. Toledo Head Coach Tod Kowalcyzk said which is really good news for that Baketball program.
The Rockets will face the Eagles of Eastern Michigan in tonights MAC Semifinal at 9PM tonight. They will look to play in their first MAC Title game since 2014 when they lost to Western Michigan. Well they sure have a chance tonight with a 65% chance of advancing to the title game tomorrow night at 7PM ET.
The Second game was all Akron in the early portions during it with the Zips leading 10-0 right of the rip and EMU took a TO right away to figure stuff out. The closest this game got in the 1st half was 24-20 and Akron Led. The score at Halftime was 31-22 in favor of the Zips. Akron jumped their lead up to 19, 47-28 with 12:30 to play in the game. Without James Thompson IV "It's definitely not the situation you want to be in" "they are a great shooting team and we asked our guys for a lot at the end". EMU Head Coach Rob Murphy said. They came back and waisted no time.
Akron did not score for the last 2 minutes of the game after trailing 60-58.
We are looking forward to a great night Tonight from The Q
