Cleveland- In a game that was all Cleveland State and Dennis Felton’s first victory as Cleveland State was certainly one to remember. And it had everything to do with Kenny Carpenter scoring 24 of his 26 points in the first half including 6-8 three pointers. He was lighting up the Wolstein Center. On a game that saw 1,931 fans, it was the most fans the Vikings drew since senior day of 2 seasons ago, 2016, considering the Cavaliers were playing over at the Q the same time Carpenter was lighting the Wolstien Center.
The Vikings (1-2), Looked like not only for just Carpenter but for everybody else on the floor where just everything was going in. The Vikings set a school record with 14 threes with Carpenter leading the way. The Vikings made 6 threes in their first 2 games combined. 14 3’s was enough to give Dennis Felton his first Win comftorbaly.
“It was terrific to win my first game and I told some students to support this program” Dennis Felton addressed tonight in the press conference. He sure looked like he was happy with no problems to win his first game.
Coppin State comes from Baltimore, Maryland as members of the MEAC, which is certainly one of the very lower conferences in College Basketball, got off to an 0-4 start after traveling right to Cleveland after playing in Cincinnati the night before losing badly. So they came off a tough night before hand and they will not quite rested for the game tonight against Cleveland State.
Bobby Word sure had something to prove why he is in the starting lineup for the Vikings, after averaging just 2.5 points per game in CSU’s first 2 games and tonight he scored a total of 12 in which Tyree Appleby only had 7]
Up Next: The Vikings go on the road to play East Carolina on Monday November 20th and Coppin State will continue their road trip against Rutgers on sunday
